Ordinary General Meeting
The ordinary general meeting of the Maison du Son association took place on 14 May 2025 in the conference room of the town hall in Pétange. In addition to the board members Pierre Mellina (President), Mayor Jean-Marie Halsdorf (Vice-President), Albert Wolter (Secretary), Roger Roth (Assessor) and Councillor Patrick Steichen (Assessor), seven guests attended the meeting. Gaby Wolter-Mancini (Treasurer) and Andreas Fickers (Assessor, Director of the Centre for Contemporary and Digital History at the University of Luxembourg) had sent their apologies.
In his welcome address, President Mellina was pleased to announce that the shell construction work had been put out to tender and is due to begin in September 2025. The project is thus taking shape. He also welcomed the progress made in the development of the concept by the University of Luxembourg (C²DH) in collaboration with the scenographers Tokonoma from Milan and a focus group consisting of Sebastian Döring (C²DH) and two members of the interest association. He also mentioned the increase in the number of members, some of whom had contributed interesting objects and would support the restoration or exhibition planning with their specialist expertise.
Notable developments from the Secretary Albert Wolter’s report include the association’s positive membership growth. From twelve members at the end of 2024, the association has grown by seven members to 19. The growing interest in the Maison du Son means that the collection and exhibition have now been expanded by 58 items on loan, many of which are historical objects from studio technology. The expansion of the collection has led to a prioritisation of functional preservation. Restoration work has begun on particularly interesting objects.
In addition to the reports and statutory regulations, the election of four new board positions was an important item on the agenda. President Pierre Mellina, Vice President Jean-Marie Halsdorf, Secretary Albert Wolter and Assessor Andreas Fickers were unanimously confirmed in their positions by acclamation.
In his closing remarks, Mayor Jean-Marie Halsdorf expressed his satisfaction that the project could now enter the concrete phase following the successful tender and wished all those involved in the project good luck and success with the upcoming work over the coming years until the opening.
